Some clients have
concerns when they read the word "Alcohol" in cosmetic products, as
they do not want alcohol on their skin either because of dehydration or for
religious reasons. We have therefore put together a brief summary and
explanation regarding ingredients with the word "alcohol" in their
names that are sometimes used in cosmetic products. This is strictly for
general information purposes, and does not mean that these ingredients are used
within RégimA products.
The majority of the
info on this page is taken from www.gmwa.org.uk [Halal food guide service May
2014]. If you feel any of this information is incorrect please let them and us
know.
Please note that
the ingredients in RégimA products which contain the word “alcohol” are NOT alcohol/ethanol. They are
fatty alcohols/esters derived from natural fats and oils extracted from natural
substances such as rapeseed, mustard seed, coconut and palm oil, and are not in
any way related to alcohol/ethanol. The name lends itself to a different
interpretation, due to the presence of the word “alcohol”. However it is in no
way analogous to ethanol alcohol, for which this concern is expressed.
